Those ‘crazy’ rocksitters were still at it late yesterday and looked set for another 24 hours.
The group of seven rocksitters who have been sitting, eating, drinking and entertaining guests on their favorite rock in the sea off East Point since noon last Saturday, claimed they had only just ‘hit their straps.’
And what’s more, the group that everybody said was crazy for pulling such a stunt has earned more than $600 for the Handicapped Children by their efforts and has won world-wide acclaim.
Newspapers and television stations throughout Australia and from overseas have been asking for taped interviews.
High tides and rough seas, coupled with long hot days and cool nights have not deterred the hardy seven.
Spokesman for the group, Star photographer Beat Erisman, said last night it was hoped branches would be established on such famous rocks as Ayers and Gibraltar.
Money raised for the Handicapped Children’s will go towards the society’s toy library.
Sales of Rocksitter World Championship T-shirts and personal donations were still boosting the fund yesterday.
Our picture above, taken at one of this week’s high rides indicates it is not all beer and skittles on the ‘good ship East Point Rock.’
